Firefighters were called to a house on fire at 802 12th Street North Friday evening. The homeowner found smoke filling the house from a second floor bedroom and called 911 just after 8pm. During the frantic call to Red River Regional Dispatch, the line suddenly went dead. It would later turn out that a circuit breaker had tripped, cutting power to the cordless phone.
Other occupants attempted to reach the bedroom, but were turned back by thick acrid smoke that made entry into the second floor impossible.
Moorhead had the fire out within 15 minutes. Crews from Fargo and Dilworth were also called to the scene early into the incident in case the fire spread throughout the home.
No one was injured in the fire and it remains under investigation.
