Anthony French was last seen Saturday June 16th. Family members say he left an appartment in South Moorhead after an argument with a friend. French left behind his wallet and cell phone.
On Friday Anthony French's family scanned the river for anything leading to his disappearance. Anthony's father Marshall says "around 10:30 this morning, lindenwood was kind enough to let us launch down here, it's deep enough, i just move the signs."
It's been a tough week for the french family, they came out on their own boat. Marshall says, "We went up and down about 5 miles of the river both sides." Because they wanted to do something other than wait. Marshall says, "You really don't realize how bad it is till you go through it yourself, it's not a good thing, not good at all."
At that time, French's family had no idea the answers they were waiting for, would turn up later in the day.
Valley Water Rescue President Peter Fendt says, "(The) search dog picked up a scent, he'd been sitting pretty calm most of the boat ride and all of a sudden he picked up a scent and we came around a clump of trees and found the victim."
Crews with Valley Water Rescue recovered a male body caught in a tree. Fargo police believe the body may be Anthony French. Sgt. Jeff Skuza says the condition of the body is consistent with the time french has been missing.
Sgt. Jeff Skuza says, "This isn't the outcome we were hoping for, but it was an outcome we know could be likely that's why we're out here searching."
Officials have sent the body to the Ramsey County Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy.
