Would Replace Compressor

Today Moorhead Fire
submitted an application for a 90% matching fund Federal equipment grant. The
Assistance to Firefighters Grant would replace an aging SCBA
compressor that can't keep up with demand. Our
current compressor is not compliant with today's safety standards. It does
not properly contain the shrapnel that would be generated were a tank to fail
during filling and is too loud during refill operations. The tanks on
Recently replaced Self Contained Breathing Apparatus now operate at 4500 psi
versus 2216 psi. Our current compressor was rated to fill the lower
capacity bottles and does not fill the higher capacity bottles in a timely
fashion. It
will take up to 9 months to learn whether or not we receive the grant.
