New SCBAs Arrive

In 2004 we applied for a FIRE Act Grant to replace our aging SCBA fleet. We were approved for 24 SCBAs and 24 spare bottles.

We purchased Scott 4.5 airpacks. They feature a heads-up display to show remaining air capacity, air line interconnects to allow air sharing between firefighters and connection to emergency air supplies, vibrating face piece low air alerting, voice amplifiers, wide-angle face pieces and 45 minute air supply to allow a safety margin in our work cycle in case a firefighter becomes lost or trapped.

The SCBAs will be placed into service after training and familiarization is complete. We will conduct some work cycle training, conduct classes on features and operation, perform search and rescue training and run through a confidence course.
