Firefighters doused smoldering corn that caught fire Saturday in a dryer inside the Georgetown (Minn.) Farmers Elevator north of Moorhead.

A passing motorist on Highway 75 noticed smoke coming from the elevator, said Greg Doeden, assistant chief of the Moorhead Fire Department, which assisted the Dilworth Fire Department.

Damage appeared to be limited to the dryer and corn in the dryer, which held 1,000 bushels, he said.

Firefighters emptied the dryer, then doused the smoldering corn, which apparently had been burning for several hours.
