Moorhead Fire Department Honor

Guard Conducts 1st Training Session

October 13, 2004

Nine members of our department attended the initial training session for our Moorhead Fire Department Honor Guard at the South Station.

We began at about 3pm with a discussion of what this would entail, and learned basic marching maneuvers.  After a break for supper, we practiced single file marching behind the station, then learned how to provide casket watch at memorial ceremonies.

Several more training sessions are expected before the end of the year.

Greg Levondowski, a Seargent with the Roseville Police Department and longtime friend of Chief Hewitt graciously volunteered his time to begin training our Honor Guard.

Greg is also a member of the Law Enforcement Memorial Association, Inc. and is a national honor guard trainer.  Among his other assignments, Greg instructs annually at the LEMA camp at Fort Ripley.
