Open House Draws Record Crowd

October 11, 2004

A combination of unusually warm weather and expanded marketing of our event in the schools resulted in never before seen attendance at the Fire Prevention Week Open House this year.

We offered free hot dogs, chips, cookies and pop. Fire Fighters gave tours of the station, trucks and equipment. Demonstrations showed how we use the jaws of life to cut open a car and rescue trapped occupants. We held drawings for prizes, and gave the kids a chance to extinguish a simulated house fire with our knock-down house. This year we also offered fire safety training for the home with the smoke house.
