Ladder Training

Our 921 Ladder is still pretty new.  We took advantage of some nice weather to increase our proficiency with the truck.

At Nelson Hall, MSUM, we assisted with mortar repairs to the building.  We will occasionally work with MSUM to our mutual benefit.  Plans were for us to use Nelson Hall for rappelling training in July and then assist them with mortar repairs.  Having a specific task to complete allows us to increase our comfort level at working from heights and having to perform tactical activities while keeping safety in mind.

This year, a lack of supplies did not allow us to do repairs during rappelling, so we practiced close quarters maneuvering at a high rise with the ladder truck.  The repair work we performed also helped us become more comfortable working off the bucket of the truck.

We also drilled with some of the attachments that came with the bucket that allows us to rappel, use a winch, attach a rescue basket and secure a ladder to climb behind a parapet wall.
