Our Fire Fighters perform an annual check on each of the ??? (2004) fire
hydrants in town. In the fall the opening and closing device is checked
for proper operation and checked for leaks. Any water in the hydrant due
to high water table levels or malfunctions must also be pumped out of the
hydrant to assure it doesn't freeze in the winter and is unknowingly unusable if
needed during a fire.
During the winter, we assure that each hydrant is accessible, shoveling them
out if necessary due to snow accumulation.
